Welcome to my unofficial Taurus Sable & Windstar web page.  You've likely arrived here because you either intend to purchase a Ford product or you already own one. If not, you are likely having a automotive problem from another manufacturer. Whether you own Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, GM or Toyota the Resources and Links page have information to help you.

I have provided a number of links to auto reference sites, resource books, relatively cheap and free web tools so you can build your own web site.

There is of course, a large amount of information relating to the 3.8L engine problems along with some information on transmissions.

This site has been updated to include recent events and  a new section with resources and books to assist you in making a wise vehicle purchase along with web site building suggestions.

The cumulative result of this site, along with all the related sites on the links page and especially the author of Lemon-Aid books (Phil Edmonston) resulted in Ford deciding to extend a recall regarding the 3.8L headgaskets to 7 yrs. or 160,000km (100,000 miles) for certain vehicles. On Feb 25/00 this recall was extended for several years of Taurus, Sable and the '95 Windstar. On April 26/00 it was further extended to cover several Rear Wheel Drive vehicles as well.

When I decided to purchase '94 Sable, like many of you, I had read that the quality of North American cars had improved dramatically since the early '80's. I learned the hard way that does not seem true for this vehicle, in particular it's 3.8L engine. I was surprised to find so many others like me having a problem directly and indirectly relating to the 3.8L headgaskets. Ford has now decided to back their products the way I feel they should. Hopefully they will continue to do so, otherwise you may wish to follow the suggestion on my 3.8L Lemon-Aid page highlighted in red near the bottom of the page.

I hope that you will benefit from my unfortunate experience to either avoid some problems or to use the resources to take positive action in resolving the ones you find yourself in. Ford paid my claim, and hopefully what you learn here will help you too.
